The body of Rebecca "Becky" Shanice Beamer-Hicks, 35, of Harrisburg, was recovered from the Susquehanna River Tuesday morning, April 9 in Harford County, a spokesman for the Maryland Natural Resources Police said.
Beamer-Hicks' body was recovered near Glen Cove, more than 66 miles up the river from where he sent missing, the MNRP said.
The extensive search was launched on March 1, when Beamer-Hicks was first reported missing. The search was later called off by officials in Harrisburg when it was determined her body was likely out of their jurisdiction.
As word spread that her body had been found, devastated friends and family members took to social media to share their grief.
"We all never wanted this to be true I really had my hopes up thinking that you was somewhere alive but deep down I knew cause I heard your voice that day when I was slurping them crabs say Damn cousin slow down and I started laughing I knew I wasn’t crazy but I love you cousin I’m not ready for this one," another loved one wrote.
There is expected to be a heavy police presence in the area as the investigation continues.
No details about the woman found in the water, or the circumstances surrounding her death have been released by investigators.
